Are you missing me?

I am missing you!

The Cozy Project Etsy shop has been quite busy...  I refuse to complain about late nights and long lines at the Post Office, cause really that was always the goal, right?

I feel very lucky to have been chosen to make so many people's handmade Christmas gifts. Sorry for the silence... I have just been playing with yarn quite a bit.

In the event you are still looking for a few last minute gifts.... You have until December 16 to get your orders placed in time for Christmas. And if you are in more of a hurry,  I have quite a few ready to ship items that would be headed to you in the mail via USPS within 24 hours... Check out my shop and search "READY TO SHIP"

Have a great holiday!!

Cozy Love...

Kate of Kate's Irrelevant ordered one of my favorite cozies and wrote a little bit about me on her blog. Go check it out here.

Thanks Kate for the lovely feature... and enjoy the cutest cozy!!

Holiday gift giving...

I know it is early, but for us crafty handmade peeps... Christmas entails more than a last minute run to the mall. I have been brainstorming ideas for handmade gifts since August. After too many Christmas's working in a large toy store... I made a promise to myself not to ruin the holidays by spending all my time shopping in retail stores. I love making things and giving something I created with my own two hands only makes giving a gift that much more special.

So for the last ten years... most of my gifts have been handmade. Of course there has been a plethora of crocheted gifts. Last year I made hats and fingerless gloves... One year not so long ago everyone got afghans. YES I MADE 27 BLANKETS. It was just after a move, I was new in town and my only friends were Paula, Simon, Randy, and Ryan. Oh and also Justin and Kelly.

I am still trying to decide what I will make this year. None of my ideas have stuck yet...

What are your plans for gift giving? Do you have any particular traditions or habits?

Button, button. Who has the button?

Which one do you like best?

Auto Correct...

You can tell when I have updated or posted on my blog when I write "thus" instead of "this." Also when "live" and "love" are interchanged.

Silly auto-correct. I am sure we have all been there!

Happy Halloween!

Our usual family routine at Halloween involves my nephew picking a theme and then we all dress up together and go out trick or treating as his accessories!

Since I am on vacation it isn't happening this year... And maybe also because my niece is getting old enough to decide she wants to be Strawberry Shortcake instead of someone from Harry Potter. I was really looking forward to my Professor Trelawney costume until I realized it conflicted with this trip.

Here are some photos from years gone by... We take things just a little bit seriously!

Hope you are all having fun and staying safe!

Vacation...,

I haven't touched yarn in three days! What? I did bring some... thinking I could get some work done on the plane... But I just happened to sit next to cute boys on both of my flights... So I decided to keep the grandma routine to a minimum.

I am taking a little trip to the other side of the country... It's lovely here. I love New York! We got in on Saturday and landed in the middle of the snowstorm. It was cold, but oh so pretty.

Here are some photos of my wanderings! Hope you are having a lovely Halloween ... Stay warm!

I am still here.

So October has proven to be quite a busy month.

It was my birthday... so I was required to spend a lot of time running around in this:

My friends are super and I am grateful to have had lots of love and attention this month in honor of my birth!

There have also been significant changes rolling out at my day job that have required lots of time and attention from my brain.

And... one of the coolest things this month: Etsy posted a link to one of my cozies on their Facebook page.

Candy Corn Coffee cup Cozy

It brought quite a bit of traffic to my shop. I am so grateful and the influx of orders has kept me quite busy! I am currently on vacation from the day job.... I wasn't sure about taking the extra week before my trip to NYC but it was completely meant to be. I am so glad that I have had the time to fill all the orders and not get behind. It's been a lot of fun. So if you are wondering where I have been.. I have been on my couch with yarn streaming Netflix!

Hope you all are enjoying fall!

Mama Marchand.

I love making custom items. Recently my twitter pal Tricia, aka Mamamarchand requested a custom bird cozy in my favorite color combo. I rushed out the door to get it to the PO so fast that I didn't get a chance to take a picture. She was nice enough to send me one...

I couldn't help but notice it matches the colors of her blog design. And also her Mama's Nest Designs Etsy shop header.  Run along and check out her shop featuring new and upcycled jewelry. She has been open just over a week and has lots of super great items.

These might be my fav:

Cozy love...

Check out some of these super cool blogs that have shared the cozy love!!  I am so very appreciative when people feature my cozies.

Jen over at Harper Street wrote a lovely post about some of the cozies here.

Sarah of Cerlandia talked about the Fall Swap package I sent her (including a cozy, and some of my favorite items that are also made in the Pacific Northwest.) Thanks to Carissa at Kissed a Frog for organizing! It was super fun and I have a post coming on my super package too! Sarah's post about her package is here.

Mayra of In Flight Ideas wrote a lovely post about candy corn. YUM. She included my candy corn cozy. Check out her post here.

Candy corn are so popular right now... Another post following that theme here thanks to Brideblu.

Liz over at  Blue Eyed Owl Boutique wrote a lovely Halloween themed post right here  featuring my vampire cozy.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciated being appreciated!!

Crazy 8's!

This summer I was asked to complete a custom bulk order. Heather asked for 8 cozies with 8's on them. I was totally curious but went about creating some cute cozies for her. I finally asked and she told me that she had a group of 8 friends that she has known for almost 40 years. They get together periodically and she wanted to bring something that would be used and remind them of each other and their friendship.

She just sent me a pic of their table setting. Judging by that, it looks like they had a great time. I am glad they enjoyed their custom cozies and some super great quality time with friends!

I want to have a tea party.

This dreary weather makes me want to drink tea (or something warm and cozy) from noon to night! My adorable red Kitchenaid tea pot has never felt so much love!!! One of my favorite times of day is after dinner, right before bed, we put water in the pot, and wait for that whistle.

Here is a lovely little tea party treasury I created with some of the most adorable things!!

It is really pumpkin time...

Pumpkin coffee cozy by The Cozy Project

This coffee cozy is a perfect fit for the average disposable paper coffee cup. Wouldn't a pumpking spice latte taste even better if you were looking at this while you drank it?

It will keep your hot drink hot and prevent fingers from getting too toasty! Pictured here on a 16oz cup, but it will also fit a can, or pint glass.

I am excited about Halloween!!

Fall is clearly here.

I went for a walk this morning to retrieve bagels for my co-workers. I LOVE walking in the wind. It smelled like fall outside and felt fresh and just a little chilly. I was happy to be holding a warm cup of coffee.

I love this illustration. Doesn't she look quite cozy?

A Giveaway for Fall

Guess what? In exactly one week, fall officially begins.

This means I will stop feeling guilty for staying inside with my yarn and drooling over pumpkin flavored things. Who doesn't love pumpkin? (Anyone claiming not to would positively swoon over my families pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. So just accept everyone likes pumpkin, okay?)

And not only does fall mean pumpkin flavored everything. It means pumpkin colored everything... including leaves!!

So in honor of the change in season I am hosting a giveaway featuring the work of the fabulous Christine of dela chic.

Here is what she is giving away:

What I will miss about summer...

I live in the fantastic city of Portland, Or.  There is a lovely park just a short walk from my apartment and I have been there a few times in the last few weeks to eat lunch in the coolness of the shade under the trees. My friend Chelsea took some lovely photos and posted about our trip here.

Chelsea also taught me about eating radishes with butter and salt... mmmmm.

Last week my friend Eva and I went with a mason jar of wine and sandwiches made with veggies and fresh, just made in my kitchen pesto!

                 salad

We walked past lovely houses with fantastically unique and pretty yards....
These roses were beautiful AND smelled amazing!

And this drawing on the sidewalk articulated exactly how I felt about the day!

I fell in love.....

1970's Nautical Seersucker Sundress by Thrush Vintage
To be honest I fall in love with nearly everything they put in their shop.  I am gonna pick something special out soon. Perhaps for my birthday.
